MATLAB, the language of technical computing, is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization, and numeric computation. Simulink is a graphical environment for simulation and Model-Based Design of multidomain dynamic and embedded systems. MathWorks produces nearly 100 additional products for specialized tasks such as data analysis and image processing.
Trinity College Dublin has a Campus-Wide License for MATLAB, Simulink, and add-on products. Faculty, researchers, and students may use these products for teaching, research, and learning; please note that commercial use, including non-academic research, of MathWorks products is not permitted under the College site licence. The license allows installation of the products on university equipment, including classroom and lab installations, and on personally owned computers.
Licence Cost
The site licence is funded by departments across college contributing to the cost based on usage. There is no initial charge for downloading and using MATLAB software under the College site licence for the current academic year. However, you should be aware that:
- Records are kept for each copy of the software that is downloaded from MathWorks.
- Based on the number of downloads your department may be contacted and requested to make a financial contribution towards the cost of the renewal of the site licence for the next academic year. You may therefore retrospectively be asked by your department to justify your download of MathWorks products and their usage in your academic research and teaching and learning activity.
- For guidance the minimum departmental financial contribution would be approximately €650.
Please see the Program Offering Guide and Software Licence Agreement for T&Cs, including copyright related to deployment of generated applications.
